Mr. Walters has tried cases in the Massachusetts District, Superior, Probate, Land, and Housing Courts and in the Federal District Court. He has also represented clients on appeals before the Supreme Judicial Court, Massachusetts Court of Appeals, and the Federal Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Representative client matters:

  • Won month-long jury trial, including all levels of appeals, on behalf of a construction management company for owner’s failure to pay balance of contract for a commercial development project;

  • Successfully defended suit on behalf of Christian school concerning school’s unwillingness to advance student to higher grade due to student’s academic failings;
  • Represented historic church in dispute over endowment trust funds managed by third party charity;
  • Represented private foundation in successful appeal of United States Patent and Trademark Office’s refusal to register service marks;
  • Successfully defended contractor against a six-figure negligent construction claim achieving a $0 jury verdict;
  • Represented religious denomination in litigation and successful mediation of property disputes with seceding local parishes;
  • Represented church in Federal District Court and Land Court with respect to claims arising under the Federal Religious Land Use and Institutional Persons Act lawsuit (RLUIPA);
  • Successfully litigated and settled will contest of Greek-born naturalized U.S. citizen in dispute amongst American and Canadian family members.
